Biography
Hui Yun joined the University of Huddersfield as a Senior Lecturer in January 2019. She completed her PhD in medical law, having obtained an LL.M and qualified as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia. In addition to teaching in Medical Law and Ethics, she also teaches Law of Torts, Research Methods and Legal Skills.
Research Expertise and Interests
Hui Yun’s PhD thesis examined the legal and ethical challenges in implementing advance directives in medical treatment and proposed a supportive measure to address the complexities of advance decision-making. She has recently published her monograph titled Advance Directives: Rethinking Regulation, Autonomy and Healthcare Decision-making, advocating for supported decision-making and a new interpretation of autonomy for advance directives. Hui Yun's research interest is in legal and ethical issues affecting end-of-life, clinical ethics, and health policy.
