Professor of Criminology, University of Hull

I am a chartered research psychologist and Professor of Criminology in the School of Criminology, Sociology and Policing at University of Hull and the institutional lead for Open Research.

My research takes in many forms of interpersonal violence including weapon-carrying, youth violence, domestic abuse and child/adolescent-to-parent violence.

At present, I am involved in the national evaluation of Violence Reduction Units funded by the Home Office, a multi-site evaluation of focused deterrence interventions in England and Wales funded by Youth Endowment Fund, a randomised controlled trial of audio recording-enabled domestic abuse alarm funded by the National Police Chiefs' Council, and a longitudinal exploration of the impact of the timing and nature of childhood adversity on later violence, funded by ESRC.
