Science Director, Water for a Healthy Country Flagship, CSIRO

Dr Prosser joined the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship as Science Director in November 2006.
In this role, Dr Prosser provides direction on science planning across a range of initiatives, ensures the research portfolio is responsive, and anticipates emerging knowledge needs.
From November 2009 to June 2010 Dr Prosser was Acting Director of the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship.

Prior to this, he was Theme Leader of Water Resources research in CSIRO's Division of Land and Water.

Dr Prosser has a strong background in catchment management science, with recent experience managing water-related national research programs in Land & Water Australia.

Dr Prosser is aware that there is increasing pressure on water resources in Australia, and that we need to improve our knowledge and scientifically based decision-making on the use of water resources.

'In order to manage our water resources, we need predictive models, based on solid understanding of the critical processes at the large scale,' he says.

Dr Prosser’s research interests include:
- catchment hydrology and science for regional catchment management
- large scale sediment transport and river geomorphology.
