Emeritus Professor of Higher Education Development, University of Cape Town

Ian Scott is professor emeritus in the Centre for Higher Education Development at the University of Cape Town, having recently retired as director of Academic Development. He has served on task teams and undertaken commissioned research for various policy bodies, including the Department of Higher Education and Training, the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and the World Bank, and led the research and report-writing for the CHE’s investigation into undergraduate curriculum structures, published in 2013. His main research interests are in higher education policy related to teaching and learning, comparative models for widening successful participation in higher education, and curriculum development.
