I am the Research Director of CROME: the Centre for Research on Management and Employment at the University of Brighton Business School, where I am Professor of Comparative Employment Relations and HRM. I previously worked for ten years at the Social Science Research Centre Berlin (WZB) and at London and Manchester Universities. I completed my doctorate, a comparison of the retail-banking sector in France and the UK, at Nuffield College, Oxford.
I am currently coordinator of an EU funded large-scale project STYLE: Strategic Transitions for Youth Labour in Europe (www.style-research.eu) and a research partner on NEGOTIATE (www.negotiate-research.eu).
My research focuses on international comparisons of gender and labour market transitions across the life cycle for youth, parents and older workers.
