Jacquelyn N. Coutré

Bader Curator/Adjunct Assistant Professor, European Art, Queen's University, Ontario

An expert in the art of Jan Lievens, Dr Coutré works with the Agnes’s celebrated holdings of European art, which features Canada's concentration of paintings by Rembrandt and his circle. She holds a PhD from New York University and brings to the gallery thirteen years of museum experience garnered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. An accomplished researcher and interpreter of the art of the Baroque period, Dr Coutré is particularly interested in the ways in which works of art reflect the social, political and economic realities of their time.
