James Miller has over 25 years experience as a China scholar, and is currently Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Cultural Studies at Queen's University, Canada. He is one of the West’s leading scholars working at the intersection of Chinese religions, nature and sustainability.

He is the author of editor of six books including, most recently, China’s Green Religion: Daoism and the Quest for a Sustainable Future (Columbia University Press 2017). His work has been translated into Italian, Chinese and Korean, and he has given lectures and interviews in English, Spanish and Chinese across the world.
