Postdoctoral fellow, University of Sydney

I'm a Postdoctoral research fellow at The Univeristy of Sydney and clinical psychologist, working in private practice and at The Gender Centre. My research spans social psychology, clinical psychology, sexology, and psychophysiology.

My work so far can be broadly separated into two streams. The first stream is basic science research aiming to understanding the nature and etiology of sexual orientation (broadly defined) and transgender phenomena. The ethos guiding this work is the following: true acceptance of sexual and gender minorities requires understanding who they are.

The second stream of work examines how popular and scientific understandings of sexual and gender minorities influence how they are accepted by the broader community - and how they feel about themselves.

As such, my research aims not only to understand the relevant phenomena scientifically - but also to understand how this science influences the lives of sexual and gender minorities.
