Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Florida

Jamie Smolen, MD, received his undergraduate degree in biology at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. He went on to get his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed a surgical internship at the University of Vermont and a residency in orthopedics at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Smolen later completed residency training in psychiatry at Boston University and a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the University of South Florida. Dr. Smolen is a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special qualification in addiction psychiatry.
Before coming to the UF Health Florida Recovery Center in 2012, Dr. Smolen had his own addiction and general psychiatry practice in Bradenton, Fla., where he specialized in pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy and facilitated an intensive outpatient program for people with substance use disorders. He also worked as a hospital consultant, providing detoxification and crisis stabilization from drug and alcohol dependence.
