Dr. Jeffrey Marlin spent 20 years in the Marine Corps and 16 years in international business before returning to school for certification as a secondary school social studies teacher. He is certified to teach in Georgia grades 6-12.

Marlin taught US and World history at Georgia State for five years as a GTA while earning his Ph.D. His dissertation “The National Guard, The National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice, and the National Rifle Association: Public Institutions and the Rise of the Lobby for Private Gun Rights,” looks at how the NRA was able to leverage the federal government and the dual sovereignty of our federal system to create what has become one of the most powerful lobbies in the US.

Academic interests focus on the U.S. Constitution and the ideals that have shaped America's democratic republic.
