His PhD-project focuses upon the environmental determinants of physical activity in older adults. He studies which environmental characteristics, such as sidewalk evenness, traffic speed and presence of greenery stimulate or hinder getting outdoors and being active among older adults. Jelle is also involved in studies that will use the same methodology to examine the environmental factors influencing physical activity among children and adults.
