Dr Jenny McMahon OAM

Senior Lecturer in Education, University of Tasmania

Dr Jenny McMahon is an award-winning researcher, teacher and former elite athlete, having won numerous international medals. Her research is focused on abuse in sport, athlete wellbeing, education interventions centring on abuse and coach education. She has used leading qualitative methodologies and evaluations into her research on abuse in sport which has foregrounded athlete and coach first-hand experiences.

She has led more than 60 research projects in the area of abuse, athlete protection, effects of abuse post-sport, coach education and education interventions on abuse. She has also devised, implemented and assessed education interventions on abuse in sport. Not only has Dr McMahon shown leading academic expertise in these areas, but she brings ‘insider’ knowledge as a former elite athlete. She has worked with numerous sporting organisation both during and prior to her academic career.
