Research Associate in Justice Health and Social Issues, Curtin University

Dr Jones is a Whadjuk woman from WA, with qualifications in Nursing and Applied Epidemiology and over 25 years involvement in Aboriginal public health and health service research specialising in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health and wellbeing. She was awarded her doctorate in December 2018. She brings to her academic work her extensive prior experience working in health and justice, both Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and in senior management positions in the Department of Health. Her research focus has been on tackling the serious inequities facing Aboriginal peoples, in particular those involving juvenile justice, child protection and women in prison. Dr Jones is recognised as a leading Australian authority on health and wellbeing issues associated with Aboriginal incarceration.
