Reader in Banking, Bangor University

John Ashton was appointed to his present position at Bangor Business School in May 2010, having formerly worked at the University of Leeds, the University of East Anglia and Bournemouth University. Dr. Ashton was a founder member of the ESRC Centre for Competition Policy at the University of East Anglia, and has been a member of the International Institute for Banking and Financial Services at the University of Leeds.

Dr. Ashton’s research interests are in the pricing of financial services and competition policy.

He has recent publications in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Regional Studies, Small Business Economics, Corporate Governance: An International Review and The Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.

Dr. Ashton attempts to disseminate his research findings as widely as possible. To date, he has been interviewed for the financial, scientific and national press as well as national and local radio. Additionally, his research work has been reported in a diverse assortment of media publications ranging from the Times Higher Educational Supplement and The Daily Mail to The Financial Times and The Times.
