Director of Egenis, Professor (Philosophy of Science), University of Exeter

John Dupré is a Philosopher of Science at the University of Exeter, where he directs Egenis, the Centre for the Study of Life Sciences.
At present he is directing a project supported by the European Research Council, entitled a Process Ontology for Contemporary Biology. He was recently one of the co-organisers of the joint conference of the British Academy and the Royal Society, "New Trends in Evolutionary Biology. He is currently chairing a working group of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, on genome editing in farm animals.
In the past he has taught at Stanford University and Birkbeck College, London. He has been Spinoza Professor of Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, and Diane Middlebrook and Carl Djerassi Professor of Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge.
