Professor of Regional Economic Development, School of Business and Law, CQUniversity Australia

John Rolfe is Professor of Regional Economic Development in the School of Business and Law at CQUniversity at Rockhampton, and a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. He is a resource economist, and has extensive experience with environmental, resource and development issues across Queensland and Australia. John has a number of research interests, but specialises in non-market valuation, regional development, environmental, resource and agricultural economic issues, and economic impact assessment in regional areas.

John was one of the leaders of the 2013 and 2017 Great Barrier Reef Science Consensus Statements, and chairs the Independent Science Panel for the Gladstone Healthy Harbour Partnership. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics from 2013-17, and was President of the Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society in 2019.
