Jonathan S. Jones

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of History at Binghamton University. I am a historian of American medicine, currently researching the United States's long history of opioid addiction. My dissertation is a social history of opiate addiction among Civil War veterans during the Gilded Age. My publications have appeared on various websites and blogs, including Slate, Nursing Clio, and The Civil War Monitor. In a previous career, I taught secondary social studies for four years. I also hold an M.A. in U.S. History from Texas Christian University (TCU).
