Professor of History and Director, Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies, Wayne State University

I am a historian of colonial Latin America and the Caribbean who specializes in the region's social and economic development. I have read research papers in diverse academic venues and published extensively about the archipelago, especially in the areas of ethnohistory, free and involuntary migration, settlement and economic exploitation. I am currently exploring the historical ties between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico from pre-Columbian times to the end of the 18th century.
