Honorary Associate Professor, School of Economics, University of Sydney

Dr. Judy Yates is an Honorary Associate in the School of Economics at the University of Sydney. Her primary research has been in the fields of housing economics, finance and policy and, in the past few years, has focused on housing affordability, rental housing supply, housing and finance markets, intergenerational sustainability of the housing system and housing taxation.

During her time in academia she was seconded to the Australian government to work on the Finance paper for its National Housing Strategy and as a member of its Inquiry into Local Government Finance. She has served on numerous government advisory committees, on the boards of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the NSW Home Purchase Assistance Authority, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and on the board of the not-for profit National Housing Company. She was a member of the government’s National Housing Supply Council throughout its 5 year term.

She holds a Doctorate of Economic Science from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor of Economics (hons) from the Australian National University.
