Research Associate & Engagement/Communications Manager, Department of Twin Research, King's College London

As a science engagement manager and a scientist, I enjoy bridging the gap between scientists and the public by communicating science in a clear, exciting and inspiring way.

When I am wearing my scientist cap, I work on survey-based diet, health and behavioural research at the Department of Twin Research to identify the genetic/environmental factors associated with ageing, pain and chronic disease. I also work with collaborators on new research projects.

With my engagement cap on, I am responsible for the Department's science engagement programme to over 9000 twin research volunteers. I am Chair of the Department's volunteer advisory panel (www.twinsuk.ac.uk/twin-zone/twin-volunteer-advisory-panel/) and am passionate about the role of patient and public involvement (PPI) in the research process and also the importance and benefits of keeping channels of communication open in an interdisciplinary environment.
