Research Fellow, The Open University

Julius Mugwagwa is a Research Fellow in the Development Policy and Practice (DPP) Unit and INNOGEN Institute (http://www.innogen.ac.uk/).

He received undergraduate and postgraduate training in biological sciences, biotechnology and business administration in Zimbabwe before attaining a PhD in science, technology and innovation policy at The Open University in 2008. Julius has worked in a number of sectors including veterinary research, pharmaceutical production and quality assurance, medicines control, agricultural biotechnology research and biotechnology/biosafety governance.

He is a past recipient of a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (2009 – 2011), and currently (2013 – 2015) a holder of a research fellowship under the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Future Research Leaders Scheme.
