Lecturer in Sociology, Macquarie University

I am an cultural sociologist, with a special interest in urbanism, media politics, gender and cultural history. I've also published in the area of transnationalism and border theory.

I teach in the Sociology major at Macquarie University, convening subjects on social movements, cities, media and cultural objects. Several of my subjects are part of the University's Participation and Community Engagement program and involve students in practical research with partner organisations.

Before I came to Macquarie I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at UTS, and lectured at the University of Lodz, Poland. I have also taught media production at SCU and Monash.

From 2005 until 2010 was a board member of the Newcastle-based media collective, the Octapod.

I am a member of the editorial board of the journal Space and Culture.
