Katherine Johnson

Reader in Psychology, University of Brighton

Katherine Johnson is Head of Psychology and Psychotherapy and leads the Transforming Sexuality and Gender Research cluster at the University of Brighton. Her research focuses on LGBT people’s experiences of mental health, issues of marginalisation and social inclusion, practices for personal and social transformation, and the relationship between gender and sexuality in the fields of queer theory, feminist theory and psychosocial studies.

She is interested in the use of creative, visual and participatory methods and has produced two community-university projects with a local mental health support group for LGBT people. Her most recent book is Sexuality: A psychosocial manifesto (Polity Press).
