Kathryn Hyer is a Professor in the School of Aging Studies and the Director of the Florida Policy Exchange Center on Aging at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Dr. Hyer's research focuses on the quality of care and the quality of life provided by assisted living communities and nursing homes. She is funded by the National Institute on Aging to examine hurricane disaster decision making among nursing home and assisted living residents in Florida (FL) and Texas (TX) that experienced hurricanes Harvey and Irma in 2017.
