Senior Lecturer in Politics, University of Liverpool

My primary research interests are in British politics, especially in terms of British political ideologies. I have authored and edited books on all three of the major parties and published numerous essays and journal articles. I continue to supervise several PhD students.

I was appointed to a permanent lectureship in 2006 and promoted to senior lecturer in 2010. I obtained my first degree from the University of Warwick in 1996 and my PhD from the University of Southampton in 2002.

I have taught several modules in my time at the University of Liverpool and my current teaching responsibilities (as module convenor) are Foundations in Politics, Thatcherism and the Politics of New Labour, and British Political Ideologies. I also supervise undergraduate dissertations and contribute to MA research methods training. I established the very successful Parliamentary Placement Scheme, which has now been running for several years.
