LCC Research Fellow at Telethon Kids Institute; Adjunct Research Fellow, The University of Western Australia

I am currently a Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute, in the ARC Life Course Centre for Children and Families over the Life Course (Life Course Centre).

I work across a range of projects relating to socioeconomic inequality in Australia and the consequences of this for child development. My main interest is education and school attendance, including how educational opportunities for children vary according to the schools they attend and the family environments they come from. I'm currently working on understanding the different factors that contribute to absence from school, and avoidable absences in particular.

Other current projects include transfers of disadvantage across multiple generations in Australian families, from grandparents, to parents and grandchildren, and the factors that facilitate and inhibit transfers of advantage and disadvantage.
