Research areas of interest for Dr Kym Fry include primary mathematics education, with a particular focus on the pedagogy of inquiry and the related assessment practices in this context. Her PhD work focused particularly on the alignment of teaching, learning and assessment practices in mathematics inquiry. Dr Fry continues to participate in research projects focused on mathematical problem solving, building a classroom culture which fosters a growth mindset towards mathematics and ways to support students to develop creative and critical thinking skills in STEM-related subjects. She has been involved in teaching pre-service teachers in a range of subject areas including English, Technologies and The Arts and continues to focus her efforts in primary Mathematics education courses at the university level. Dr Fry also teaches real children in a real primary classroom and is passionate about all children she teaches achieving success in mathematics learning.
