PhD researcher, City, University of London

Laura’s PhD focuses on gender-based harassment on dating sites and mobile apps. Her research aims to describe and interpret this under-explored phenomenon by conducting interviews with men and women who use online dating. Specifically it will explore how harassment is experienced and responded to, and whether the unique culture/s of online dating environments shape harassing user behaviour. The research seeks to contribute to the burgeoning debates about offensive and/or criminal online conduct and the regulation of the Internet.

Laura obtained her 4 year Bachelors in Psychology (with Honours) at Murdoch University, Western Australia. Before coming to City, she worked as a research assistant and a teacher in the School of Psychology and Exercise Science at Murdoch.
