Lecturer in English Literature, University of Oxford

I am the Lecturer in Old and Middle English Literature at University College, Oxford. I have two primary research interests: the life and works of the twentieth century author Daphne du Maurier, and medieval religious literature (including the mystic Margery Kempe). My first book, 'The Church as Sacred Space in Middle English Literature and Culture', was published by Manchester University Press in 2018. I am currently writing a book on Du Maurier's work, arguing against the popular misconception of her as a 'romantic' novelist and demonstrating the breadth, versatility, and brilliance of her extensive body of work.
