Dr. Leslie Acton is an Assistant Professor in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a human geographer and studies human-environment relationships across space and scale. Leslie's recent research focuses on large-scale oceans governance and conservation in the high seas and offshore Bermuda and Hawai‘i. She completed her PhD at Duke University in 2017 and was subsequently awarded a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Colorado State University.
