Course Director, Psychology of Advertising Masters Programme, Lancaster University

My research interests cover how psychological knowledge can be applied in the marketing and communications industries to improve their effectiveness. In particular, our ability to create and believe in brands, and treat them as if they’re real, with characteristics, associations, and even "personalities". This represents a profound act of faith, art and imagination on the part of professionals, that can influence the behaviour of millions of people

I am course director of the Master's programme at Lancaster University. This course is a unique interface between the worlds of academic psychology and the communications industry. It prepares students for a role in which they can draw on leading-edge academic research and theoretical understanding to enrich their subsequent careers in research or planning.
