Leszek Buszynski

Professor Leszek Buszynski is a sessional lecturer and PhD supervisor at the National Security College. From 1997 to 2010, he was professor of International Relations at the International University of Japan (IUJ). From 1997 to 2001 he was Dean of the Graduate School of International Relations at the IUJ and concurrently Director of the IUJ Research Institute. He was also also Director of the Research Institute of Asian Development [RIAD] from 1995 until 1997. Professor Buszynski was associate professor in the International University of Japan from 1994 until 1997. From 1987 to 1993 he was a Senior Research Fellow and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Strategic Studies at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre [SDSC] at the Australian National University. Before then, Professor Buszynski was Lecturer and later Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science at the National University of Singapore from 1980 until 1987. His latest book publication is Negotiating with North Korea: The Six Party Talks and the Nuclear Issue.

Professor Leszek Buszynski’s current research activity includes the South China Sea, which he has been examining over the past twenty years and has seen develop into a potential crisis point for US-China relations. He was engaged in the NSC's research project on the South China Sea and Australia's Regional Security Environment, which was published as an edited volume in March 2015.
