Liam Whitmore is a zoologist who graduated from Bangor University (Wales) with a Master's in Zoology with Conservation. He is currently studying for his PhD at the University of Limerick, Ireland. His PhD focuses on the debilitating marine turtle disease known as fibropapillomatosis, which causes multiple benign tumors to grow on the soft tissues of marine turtles. He studies various aspects of this disease and its effects on marine turtles, with particular emphasis on the turtle-specific herpes virus partially responsible for this disease.
