Lisa is a Visiting Fellow with the Personal Social Services Research Unit at the London School of Economics. Her PhD research compared international approaches to improving quality in long-term care, focusing on the approaches in place for residential care for older people in England and Australia. Her PhD was funded by a Doctoral Research Fellowship awarded by the National Institute for Health Research.

Prior to this, she conducted research into social care for older people across six EU countries, as part of the European Cross Border Care Collaboration Project, an FP7 project funded by the European Commission. Research interests are in the quality of social care, public reporting and user feedback, choice and decision-making, best practice and quality improvement.

Her current full-time role is Assistant Director of Research, Data and Intelligence at Social Care Wales, a Welsh Government-sponsored body responsible for the registration of social workers and the social care workforce, and for improving quality in social care in Wales.
