I have been teaching for over 15 years and been working at the University of Portsmouth since 2011. Previously I have been involved in training and staff development within the travel and tourism sector.
I have experience from many sectors of the travel and tourism industry, including airlines, tour operators, travel agencies and cruise companies, working for companies such as British Airways, Thomson and P&O.
I have had articles published in both academic journals and practitioner publications including work on tourism pre-consumption, customer loyalty and visitor attractions, tourism student graduate programmes and mentoring within the tourism industry.
I have led several knowledge transfer projects which have included writing a social media tourism strategy for Gosport Borough Council and developing a training workshop for management at Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays shopping outlet to improve international visitor cultural awareness.
My research interests relate to the tourism experience, with current focus on the pre-consumptive stage and the cruise sector.
