Dr Lynda Cheshire is a Professor of Sociology and Head of the School of Social Science at The University of Queensland.

She holds a Bachelor of Economic and Social Studies from the University of Wales (University College of Swansea) and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree and PhD in sociology from Central Queensland University. From 2011 to 2015, she held an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship. Lynda conducts research into housing and local neighbourhoods, seeking to understand the way broader urban, demographic and policy changes reshape the way people live and relate to their homes and to one another, and the implications of these changes on people’s for sense of home and on conflict, cohesion and inequality in society.
