Lynn Coleman is a senior lecturer at Cape Peninsula University of Technology where she has held teaching and academic staff development roles. Her PhD, from the Open University, UK, is in the field of academic literacies and curriculum studies. Her research interests include academic literacies within the vocational higher education context, literacies associated with visual communication and media courses and curriculum design and development.

Lynn was Visiting Academic at the Division of Teaching and Learning at Uppsala University, Sweden in April – May 2018. She was also the co-convenor of the HELTASA Special Interest Group between 2016 – 2017. Aspects of Lynn’s PhD research was incorporated into edited volumes addressing the theme of literacies in the university. She has also published her work on literacy and textual practices in the vocational university and integrating curriculum theorisation with the academic literacies perspective in the journals Higher Education Research and Development, Teaching in Higher Education CriSTal. She has secured research funding grants from the NRF and CPUT to pursue their research interests in student writing development, pedagogies of writing and action research as a tool for developing teachers-as-researchers..
