Maddy is a researcher in public health, working on food aid and food insecurity in the UK. She has experience of conducting quantitative and qualitative research on socio-economic inequalities. Her PhD looks at ethnic and religious differences in the provision of food aid and the prevalence and experience of food insecurity.

Maddy previously worked as a senior researcher at The Equality Trust and the Resolution Foundation, and as a campaigner at 38 Degrees.
