Professor Siriwardana is an internationally recognised researcher in economics, especially in the fields of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling, trade policy analysis and carbon tax impact modelling.

He has developed several CGE models during his career and they include models for Victoria, Australia, China, and Singapore.

His research and supervising interests include CGE modelling and its application to economic policy analysis, Trade policy analysis using the CGE modelling approach, Economic integration with special reference to FTAs, and Trade policies and economic development in South Asian economies.
