Marg’s current research areas include:
- Women's experiences of learning about their partner accessing child abuse material. Marg collaborated with another academic on this research
- Money, Gender and Family Violence - collaborative research
- Child welfare policy - currently co-authoring a book on Child Welfare policy since white settlement
- Child Protection
- Issues facing young people in the youth justice system (Drug use, mental health, interrupting their transition to the adult criminal justice system; affect of childhood abuse on criminal offending, attachment issues and effects on criminal offending)
-- Pacific young people and their over-representation in the Juvenile Justice system. Marg collaborated with other academics on a large funded project with in NSW examining the intersection between juvenile offending and cultural identity
- Sudanese people and their experiences of the criminal justice system
- Alcohol use and abuse - collaborative research was completed in early 2015
- Women offenders and incarcerated women
