Mariangela Palladino

Lecturer in Postcolonial Studies (Migration, Mobilities, Diaspora), Keele University

I am Principal investigator (PI) of AHRC funded project 'Responding to Crisis'; in partnership with Royal Holloway, Glasgow, and L’Orientale (Italy); this project brings a rigorous interdisciplinary dialogue to bear on the contemporary forced migration ‘crisis’ to develop cultural and material responses by foregrounding the role of the humanities. I am also Co-Investigator of ESRC-AHRC 'Global Challenges scheme project 'Arts for Advocacy' with Dr Laura Jeffery (Edinburgh University). This programme of work seeks to mobilise the creative arts to steer debates on migration and develop innovative, arts-based methods. My research interests lie at the intersection of Postcolonial literatures and cultures, migration and diaspora. My research focuses on a study of representations of contemporary migration between Africa and Europe and the idea of a postcolonial Mediterranean. Traversing postcolonial studies and cultural studies, my work addresses questions concerning identity, space culture and the environment.
