I am a young scientist with a passion for the natural world. I'm currently a dual postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Viral Zoonoses and Mammal Research Institute, both located at the University of Pretoria. My research focuses on various aspects of bat health, ecology and conservation, as well as the effects that humans are having on important bat habitats. I am part of a dynamic and hardworking team of ecologists and virologists that does ongoing monthly monitoring of various bat populations. My skills include bat capturing and handling, PIT tagging, data analysis in R and spatial analysis with GIS. I also enjoy communicating my research; participating in community outreach and education and writing both popular-press and scientific articles, with several publications in international journals.
