Creamer is at the forefront of trauma relief in Australia. As the Director of the Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health (ACPMH) since 2001, Professor Creamer works to alleviate the often severe mental health issues that affect people who have endured trauma.

One of the major areas Professor Creamer has focused on throughout his career is assisting communities recover from a traumatic event. Community development is a very important strategic element of post-event planning for ACPMH, and can potentially stop a number of problems developing. This process involves three key levels, which ACPMH utilises in all of its work in posttraumatic events.
