Professor and Canada Research Chair in Predictive Aquatic Toxicology, University of Saskatchewan

Dr. Markus Hecker is a Professor in the School of Environment and Sustainability and the Toxicology Centre, and Canada Research Chair in Predictive Aquatic Ecotoxicology at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada.  Hecker’s research focuses on water quality assessment, hazard characterization of contaminants, ecological risk assessment and development of alternatives to live animal testing. Dr. Hecker's research aims to provide the scientific community, governments, and industry with solutions to aid in the sustainable management of the environment and its resources. He serves/served as an expert to government bodies and other stakeholder groups including the US-EPA EDSP and the OECD, and is a member of the College of the Royal Society of Canada.
