Marlene has a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Indonesian Studies and Politics, and masters degrees in Journalism and International Relations. As part of her Masters in International Relations, Marlene completed a research project on Australia’s role in the 1965-66 communist massacres in Indonesia.

As a Program Officer at the Australia-Indonesia Centre for the Partnership for Australia-Indonesia Research, Marlene works on program coordination, research communication, and monitoring, evaluation and learning.

Prior to this role, Marlene was a Communications Coordinator at the Australian Taxation Office and later at Monash University. In her role at Monash, Marlene coordinated communications for Monash’s diversity and inclusion programs and contributed to the development of the University’s Diversity and Inclusion Framework and Action Plans.
