I studied politics and history at Coventry University, as a mature student, between 1990 and 1993, obtaining a BA(Hons)

I have been a member of the Labour Party, but relinquished my membership (and support) following the rightward surge led by Blair. I have been a Lib Dem voter since moving to Mid Wales, as elections in my constituency (Montgomeryshire) are a two horse race between the Tories and Liberal Democrats (however, it has also been a rational decision due to my dissatisfaction with the Labour Party; seeing the Lib Dems as a more Progressive alternative to Labour.)

I had always regarded myself as a socialist until my studies at university, following which I think my political position would best be described as that of a social liberal (my dissertation being on the ideological similarities between the Labour Party and the New/Social Liberaliam of the early 20th century Liberal Party
