PhD candidate, Newcastle University

I am a PhD student at Open Lab, Newcastle University. The majority of my work is around Digital Sexualities. I am interested in how digital technology intercepts with sexual identity, and particularly how young people navigate this. A great deal of my research is around user-centered design with young people, exploring how to appropriately incorporate their perspectives into the design of digital technology.

My previous research has looked at young people’s perspectives on school based sex education, and how lesbian, gay and bisexual christians position themselves in relation to the homophobia of the christian church. I also have specific interests and commitments to qualitative research, particularly thematic analysis, design methods and innovative research methods.
