Dr Matthew Phillips is a researcher and lecturer in evolutionary biology at Queensland University of Technology
He completed his PhD at Massey University, New Zealand, and has previously been employed as an ARC Australian Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer at Australian National University.
Much of Dr Phillips' earlier research focused on using phylogenetic methods to disentangle evolutionary relationships between species. More recently, his interests have shifted towards using molecular and morphological phylogeny to infer macroevolutionary patterns and processes.
He is particularly interested in integrating genetic, ecological and fossil data to help understand the origins of mammal biodiversity.
