Consultant Research Archivist, University of Melbourne

Mike Jones is an archivist, researcher and history postgraduate with a strong interest in sustainable digital humanities practice. After six and a half years at the University of Melbourne’s eScholarship Research Centre (ESRC) he was awarded the McCoy Project STRAPA (Strategic Australian Postgraduate Award), commencing his PhD in mid-December 2014.

While undertaking postgraduate research Mike is a Research Associate at Museum Victoria, works as a Consultant Research Archivist at the ESRC, and provides support to government and community-based digital projects as an independent consultant. His past experience includes numerous collaborative projects with academics, government departments, community organisations and the GLAM sector, all focused on creating more sustainable, accessible public knowledge resources. In recent years he has published and presented extensively, and blogs about archives, the GLAM sector and digital resources.
