Miriam Boeri is an Associate Professor of Sociology. Her research focuses on ethnographic studies of drug user populations and alternatives to incarceration. Findings from her studies were reported in numerous conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Her book on women who use methamphetamine describes how addiction intersects with social roles, relationships, and political trends. She has contributed to anthologies of drugs in American society and chapters on qualitative research. Her goals are to reduce the adverse health and social effects of problematic drug use through drug policy reform.
